the sweet side of life
take me to pennsylvania for this one and only reason:

[pardon me while i wipe up my drool]
my cheeks are tingling thinking about all the candy this store has to offer.
it reminds me of the candy stores my bf and i found in europe! but closer.
oh wait, was i blogging? i just zoned out for a while remembering the candy we found accross holland, belgium and france. the old favourites and the new discoveries. i was so happy.
anyway,
i don't just spend my afternoons dreaming about candy, well, hahaha...
but last night i was watching the food network's: "the secret life of..." and it just happened to be on sweet and sour candy! yum.
so right now, all i have to say is how jealous i am of host jim oconnor. he got vip treatment to an insiders only candy convention. full of new tasters, sour everything and candy making machines; where you could flavour and create candy on the spot. aaaa-mazing!!
who cares about TIFF insider parties, and free swag, though i'm sure it's all fine too..but i'd rather have a loot bag of new sours to sting my cheeks and tongue on.
YES!
PLEASE!

drawing the line
if there is a horizontal line that runs from the map of your body, straight through the land, shooting right through my heart;
will this horizontal line, when asked, know how to find where you end, where i begin
will this horizontal line, when asked, know how to find where you end, where i begin

premiere
it is september. back to school, back to schedules and the coming of cooler days and nights. it's also the beginning for new seasons of old favourites and for brand new shows to premiere.
90210 was, ok? not really into it. america's next top model. well, it is off to a strange start, tyra banks is craaazy! however, my hopes in occupying boring nights will hopefully be restored by tonight's premiere of so you think you can dance canada. i'm hoping a few things for this show: [a] that leah miller wont be so annoying and make me want to rip out my hair, which she usually does, ugh [b] the dancers/judges will be awesome [hopefully to live up to last season of so you think you can dance[usa] and that [c] the tryouts will deliver the laughs as well as the pros.
tune in tonight - ctv @ 8 pm!

it's lovely
it's lovely when you look my way
your simple smile brightens my day
it's lovely when you walk so near
hold my hand, i have no fear
it's lovely when you laugh with me
enjoying each other, so carefree
it's lovely when you see me cry
exposing myself till my eyes are dry
it's lovely when you stand by my side
when i've done wrong and i swallow my pride
it's lovely knowing you'll be right there
giving me your love and care
it's lovely when you tell me so
that our love will continue to grow
it's lovely how we've stuck through and through
but the most lovely day will be when i don't have to say goodbye to you
-from me to you-

in fashion
victoria beckham has launched a new collection for spring 2009. to no surprise, she stamped her name[money] onto creations actually designed by christina ferrari, a young italian designer. i'm not one to follow along in the new and upcoming collections. most run way items are completely unwearable, unpractical and not my taste. and not to mention acquiring one would send me into debt. that being said, i actually like the designs shown - even though linked to victoria beckham. i do not think she offers much in any medium, but now is she stealing the credit from the actual designer? or is this just how fashion works, anyone with money can come out with a label. so i wonder, who should really be getting the credit. the person who has the image, the celebrity-fashion-icon? the one with all the money? or the one doing the sketching, sewing, creating?
with all the politics over fashion labels and lines aside, i think the pieces are classic and some are very lovely.

here are the downsides:
- it's victoria beckham
- they all look like they were designed only for victoria beckham, and not for the average woman - they claim to be very wearable but by the majority? i find it doubtful.
- the price. they range from 1,500 $ to 4,000 $ - yikes!
- the designs are repetitive [does it count as an actual collection when you're showing the same item in different colours?]
- the lines are classic, yes, but simplistic and look like they could have been put together by any celebrity/designer. she's staying on the safe side for clothing...but for hairstyles?...
with the new style she unveiled at NYC fashion week she maybe should have attached her name to some peter pan inspired belted frocks over tights. very pixie.

the collection can be viewed here: http://www.style.com/fashionshows/complete/S2009RTW-VBECKHAM

so long summer...welcome fresh starts
it's september! yes, i know, already. where the hell did august go? it's nothing new that summers fly by in a few blinks, especially when you grow up. remember when two months seemed to drag on for eternity? now four months is hardly enough time for me to accomplish everything i want. and just like all the summers before, this break came and went so fast. before it started, i knew it was going to be a great summer, but full of bitter sweet. and it was. i had my first trip abroad with the bestest, but from spending the other 3 months apart, i spent a lot of time reflecting on me, getting lost in novels, battling allergies and yes of course, working.
now it's a new month. the beginning of autumn. i love this time of year. it's still warm and sunny, but you're not sweating and sticking to chairs or clothes. you can still wear shorts, dresses or skirts, just throw on a cardigan for evening. it's lovely. the leaves are changing, the colours are vibrant. it's fun to shop for cozy sweaters and fuzzy socks. i love summer, but there's something special about the changes too. of course knowing winter will soon be knocking is a little bit discouraging, as i still think of the fact that i never even really got to the beach this summer. sigh. there's always next year.
but now it's september. back to school for most. new jobs, new experiences. finishing up loose ends and falling back into some old routines. i'm not sure yet what to expect. i'm looking for new paths and am willing to accept the changes i know will be facing me sooner than later. i'm hoping the fall transition will go smoothly and hopefully time will slow down just enough so that i will actually be able to enjoy the changing colours of the leaves.
that would be nice.
